Bridgerton.

BRIDGERTON ADJOA ANDOH as LADY DANBURY in episode 101 of BRIDGERTON Cr. LIAM DANIEL/NETFLIX © 2020

We are continuing our viewing of season two of “Bridgerton”. It’s not my favorite of the historical dramas; this season in particular was slow to grab my attention. However, the latter half of the season has picked up for me a bit and I am enjoying it.

I am particularly impressed by a few of the characters, including Lady Danbury portrayed by Adjoa Andoh and Queen Charlotte, portrayed by Golda Rosheuvel. Both are fine in their roles and I find them both enchanting.

I don’t want to give away spoilers, but compared to season one, this season of Bridgerton seems a little less “steamy”. It is quite enjoyable nonetheless. Perhaps it’s trying to align itself with the likes of “Downton Abbey” a bit more. Earl doesn’t like when I ask about the fountains and the revolving stages in the early 1820s. He says I should just sit down and watch the show.

And that I shall.

Yep.

I have been on a work meeting, non-stop mind you, since 6:00 AM. I am writing this entry at 4:21 PM. Non-stop. Breakfast at my desk. Lunch at my desk. The meeting continues as I type this. I’ve cancelled my flight for today to accommodate.

Passed.

I took my written exam for Instrument Rating-Airplane today. I’ve been not looking forward to this exam because written exams tend to make me nervous. I passed the exam with an above average score and I am quite pleased with the result.

The written exam is one of three tests associated with becoming an Instrument Rated pilot. I now have to complete an oral exam and a checkride with an FAA examiner. I’m about a month away from doing this; and I look forward to that opportunity.

Marketing.

It seems nearly 11 years later, Facebook and other marketing mechanisms have figured out that my Dad died in 2011. I didn’t get any “buy this for Father’s Day!” marketing notifications during this gift giving season, in fact, I didn’t really remember it was Father’s Day until personal tributes and photos and the like started appearing on Facebook at the beginning of the weekend.

If Dad was still alive, I’d probably take him up in an airplane with me in the left seat and him in the right seat and we’d talk about us both being pilots and we’d have big grins on our faces.

I never got to do that.

Caturday.

It has taken a while but I believe Truman and the dogs have come to an understanding about playtime. When Truman retreats to the lowest shelf at the end of the kitchen cupboards, he is to be left alone. I’ve noticed over the past week that when he’s “Cat on a Shelf” the dogs walk by and look at him but there’s no sniffing or whining to play or anything like that.

When Truman is in a feisty mood he may leave the shelf and go to another spot in the kitchen, where he’ll give a friendly swat to a passing dog and then they’ll start running around a little bit. He usually then immediately retreats to my office which is apparently another “safe spot” in the canine-feline understanding going on in this house. Once he’s by my desk, the dogs come to a halt.

It’s just the way of the world.

Running.

I don’t want “Stranger Things”, but apparently this song was featured in the show and is climbing the charts again, nearly 40 years later from its original release.

From 1985 here’s Kate Bush with “Running Up That Hill”.

WordPress.

I have been struggling with WordPress, the platform in which this blog resides and has done so since 2005 or so. The folks at the company that owns WordPress have been throwing feature after feature after feature into the application and it seems a bit bloated to me. I don’t enjoy the new editor they’ve incorporated into the mix; I’m happy there’s a plugin that takes me to the old editor again.

I know blogging of this nature has become quite old-fashioned in this 280 character world with 60 second videos sprinkled about. With the projects at work and my studies for my next Private Pilot rating I have not been writing as regularly as I would like. Rather, I have not been writing as much as I’d like. However, hopefully things will calm down slightly over the next week or two and then perhaps I’ll find the energy to write again.

Traditional.

I had to cancel my flight right before take-off. The engine was running rough and I wasn’t comfortable with taking a malfunctioning airplane a mile or more off the planet. So we reported the issue to maintenance and headed to the hangar.

As a consolation prize my husband and I stopped at a local Italian restaurant here in Tucson. It felt like it was right out of 1965 but it was a delight. There were two distinct parts to the menu: the original recipes and the “third generation” recipes, added by the current generation of owners.

I opted for the original recipe Eggplant Parmesan served “Joe’s style”, which included olive oil and red pepper flakes in the sauce. Joe definitely gave the sauce a kick and it was still quite enjoyable. We brought half of our dinner home due to the huge portions.

I look over to the leftovers.

Filmation.

Someone animated “Star Trek: Voyager” in a traditional Filmation animation style of the early 1970s, much like “Star Trek: The Animated Series”. This is a great piece of art and quite enjoyable!
