I continue to be blown away by The Hindley Street Country Club, an Australian-based cover band. The musical ability of every member of the band is off the charts. Amazing. Absolutely amazing.
Here’s their cover of k.d. lang’s “Constant Craving”.

I posted a picture of Truman out on the roof a couple of weeks ago. He’s decided that he likes moonlit skies better and has insisted on spending some time surveying the property every night this past week. As the nights get chillier he doesn’t really spend as much time out there, but I like to think he’s spending quality time under the moonlight.
I do stay with him while he’s out on the roof because once in a while he’ll decide he might want to hop off the roof and we don’t allow that sort of thing.
The “Bewitched” channel on YouTube has been featuring clips from the 1977 spin-off series “Tabitha”, starring Lisa Hartman. The show lasted only 13 episodes before it was cancelled, but it wasn’t awful. Here Karen Morrow’s Aunt Minerva does a very Endora-esque thing to Tabitha’s boss Paul Thurston, played by Robert Urich.
I love airports, day or night. And I really like the color of the taxiway lights (the blue ones).
We’ve scheduled our next COVID booster shot and we’re going to combine it with our annual flu shot because that’s what we do in 2022. I’m still not a fan of vaccines but I still get them because it’s probably for the better for me and it’s for the greater good. I tend to think of this little activity as not selfish.
You should do the same.
Today is Election Day in the United States. It’s the midterm elections and unless you’ve been living on a rock, you’ve probably been barraged with countless ads with mud being slung everywhere, outrageous lies, craftily edited video, and just gross buffoonery from both sides of the political equation. According to all polls on all networks vying for ad revenue, every race is a 50/50 race and too close to call, even those without opponents.
I’ve shut the television off. I’m avoiding news sites. I’m not talking about it.
It’s not like anyone is going to have an answer anytime soon and most likely if someone doesn’t win their going to throw some stupid hissy fit about compromised polls, illegal activity, and corruption at all levels of the election system, but just you watch, they will have zero evidence to back up these claims.
Our family voted by mail in plenty of time before the Pima County deadline. We’ve done our duty. I hope you did yours.
I don’t want anyone else to get my accounts over on that hellsite, so I locked down my account and decided to just keep it real.
We are at the local Starbucks this afternoon. I’m enjoying an unsweet black iced tea while my husband has the same with just a touch more lemon. It’s been a long time since I’ve written a blog entry whilst in a Starbucks; I still enjoy the experience.
There is a smattering of iPads, MacBooks, and PC laptops amongst the audience here in this Starbucks. The wifi is very slow. I ended up using my Personal Hotspot on my iPhone to connect as speeds were below 1Mbps when I was connected to Starbucks’ wifi.
There’s a lot of Christmas decorations up in this store because it’s the first week of November. Christmas in the desert is still weird to me, because I’m wearing shorts and the sun is shining brightly. It doesn’t make it any less valid, it’s just different. I’m still used to being under grey skies and in waist deep snow.
One of the amusing things about living in the desert this time of year is the number of people wearing toques and heavy jackets even though it’s 22ºC/73ºF outside. It’s quite pleasant and standing in the sun is still a warming experience.
I spent a few hours working this morning to try to catch up to the chaos left behind by the work week. I’ve been having too many chaotic days at work for the past few months and trying to bring calm to that chaos can occasionally be a challenge. Working a few hours on a Saturday morning, purely for my own sanity, helps keep me grounded.
And now I shall enjoy my iced tea.
Truman likes to play ball every morning while I’m in my office. I think he’s the first cat I’ve known to favorite his right paw instead of his left for batting at things. He’s really good at hitting the ball back to me.
