He’s A Feline.

Perch.

Truman insists on getting situated on the highest perch available in the house to see what’s going on with these two puppies that are now part of the household. I don’t like him getting up there as it seems awfully tippy, so we’re buying him a cat tree that will provide a larger and safer platform affording the same views that he enjoys from his little perch.

Meanwhile, all that use four legs seem to be getting to know each other. There have been no hisses from the long term resident, but there have been a couple of growls. Truman maintains his distance and dominance. We’ve re-installed the gate that was at our bedroom area when we bought the house; Truman can jump over it but the puppies can not.

This works out well for the feline.

Caturday.

Truman and I occasionally have a moment. This is his way of showing his tenderness. He has no interest in human food, but he will join us at supper time by sitting on the window ledge behind my head while I eat my meal.

Caturday.

Truman is not sure enjoys when the javelinas stop by. He keeps an eye on them to make sure they’re not headed for his kibble.

Caturday.

Truman has many moods. This week I have received the look of impatience and the look of “I’d rather be alone”.

Truman awaits indication that I will leave my office chair and find him some t-r-e-a-t-s.
Apparently I don’t have enough heat in the bedroom, even though we live in the desert.

Caturday.

Truman likes to spend part of the morning perched on his cat tree in my office looking out the window toward the front of the house. When he saw me get my camera out he wanted to know why I was interrupting his routine.

Caturday.

Chris bought Truman a USB chargeable ball that flings itself around the house. From what I’ve seen thus far it has several different motions, including scurry, wiggle, and jump up and down. There are some colorful LED lights to grab Truman’s attention and when I first put it down on the floor and activated the fun he was inquisitive.

The ball made its way into the neighboring laundry room and he followed it there. I don’t think he quite knows what to think about this little toy yet. We’ll give it another try over the weekend and see if it gives him a digital catnip high.

Caturday.

We have a couple of storage closets accessible only from the roof. Truman supervised while we put the outside holiday directions away.

Sunning.

I’ve been writing about Truman a little more than usual. He’s taken up standing on the cat tree behind my office desk every morning to watch the world out my big that overlooks the front of the house. He seems to be happy and this makes me happy. I occasionally pause to give him so soft scritches behind the ears and tell him he’s a good cat and that I love him.
