The other day I had a memory flash of a cartoon featuring Tom Bosley (from “Happy Days”) as the father (though I didn’t make the connection when “Happy Days” was on). We were still living in the trailer and Dad hadn’t started building the house yet, so it was before 1976. I remembered seeing the show on our tiny television set, and I thought I’d watch it with mom and dad but I was moved away from the living room to a coloring book or something at the kitchen table. I was a bit baffled by this because it was a cartoon and there was a girl that looked like Velma from Scooby Doo. Mom’s friend from high school, “Aunt” Helene, was visiting with her daughter Samantha. We colored together at the table. I remembered the episode had something to do with a used car lot before being whisked away to the kitchen. It looked like Scooby Doo but it definitely wasn’t Scooby Doo.
A little research and 50+ years later, I found it. “Wait Till Your Father Gets Home”. An adult comedic cartoon produced by Hanna Barbera, the pilot was on “Love, American Style” and then two seasons followed. It was basically “All In The Family” in cartoon form.
